Sherpa Museum and day in Namche

Day 3 Oct 16, 2024

Woke up around 4 am, stayed in bed, caught on some cricket news. Breakfast at 7am and out the door at 8. Six-Seven-Eight !!

The morning view from our dining hall was spec-ta-cu-lar. A 30 minute hike on the backsode of the hotel lead us to amazing views of Namche Bazaar and the valley

Tenzing Norgay’s memorial could not have been in a more perfect place: Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam guarding his spirit and recalling stories.

The location of the 1953 Hillary/Tenzing Everest Base Camp is now a museum with stories and artifacts of the past and present

A few more pics and we started coming down for lunch. Today we reached an elevation of 11,548 ft and yes there was a head stand !

On the way down a little girl greeted Jason with a high-five. Jason gave her a set of color pencils. The smile on her fave was magical. Her biggest WOW was when Jason showed her the built in sharpener. Her Mom prompted from behind to say “Thank You”. The little girl’s parting words were ”Thank you“ then started singing “…wash your hands”

I skipped my nap (gosh!!) instead got a massage which was very relaxing. At 3:30 pm our group aka “Yak Snot” met up at the coffee shop “Smart Eat” for tea and coffee More names going on our tribute flag.

After dinner, the Yeti Bar put together a special viewing of the movie Everest based on the 1996 disaster recounted in the book Into Thin Air.

Tomorrow, we have a four hour elevation acclimatization hike to hot 12,800 ft. House rules remain unchanged: Six-Seven-eight.

Everyone’s blood oxygen and heart rate is within range. Everyone is doing well.
